I
use Meguiar's Gold Class Clear Coat Liquid Car Wax when polishing and have been
more than happy with it. Its expensive, but then so was your bike...

If you, like me, want the kind of chain lube the bike came
from the manufacturer with, the product to use is Bel-Ray's Super Clean Chain
Lube. The lube is a zinc based lubricant which is pure white in color, and will not
fling off. It means your back rim and tire never gets gooped again, your chain
is very clean looking and no grit or road grime adheres to it. I really
do encourage anyone to look around for the product. I used kerosene and a
toothbrush to remove all the previous oil lube before applying the Bel-Ray Chain
lube.

I purchased my Shadow at
Shogun Honda in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Shogun Honda†
† I have had bad experiences in getting service work done
at this dealer. The 600 mile service was performed so poorly it shocked me! Some
of the problems from a single 1000 km service were:
- They failed to put the side cover back on properly, not
snapping in the bottom left post. This resulted in a worn area where the
cover rattled on the ride home.
- Did not put the tank on again right, pinching the
wiring harness between the tank and the frame.
- Did not mount the tank top speedo housing correctly,
nor place the speedo wires correctly, resulting in the tank rattling very
loudly
- Did not adjust valves as requested.
- Played with the mixture jets in the carbs (for no
reason) including drilling out the caps!
- Scratched the brake light housing
- Sprayed cheap black oily chain lube on when they
informed me they would put the same white (chain wax) stuff originally shipped
with the bike.
I
have also heard from other Shadow riders in Brisbane who have had equally bad
service experiences at this dealer, and no longer use them. I now no longer use
them, and would never get any service work done there. I try to always use
another dealer, most commonly Brisbane Motorcycles, whom have always been much
more competent, helpful and careful with everything they touch:

A number of people have enquired as to
how I have created the graphics for this website. Well, I'm
hesitant to put in a plug for my own company's software, but
I'll tell you anyway. I used graphics rendering software
called StyleSkin. |
