Data-Link
Software Central brings you SoundScapes!
These are complete Sound Schemes ready for downloading to
your watch. But before you can access them they must be
added to your timexdl.dat file.
With the new SoundScape Simple Setup
program you can now easily install these SoundScapes!
Just download the program, unzip it to a directory, then
download your soundscape and unzip it to the same
directory (You may also need the system files available
as a separate download in order to run the program). If
you no longer want the SoundScape, simply run SoundScape
Simple Setup again with the same INI in place and it will
automatically remove the SoundScape!
You may need the Visual Basic Runtime to run
SoundScape Simple Setup.
Please note that the sound format is limited
in capability. This means that the notes I can play,
their length and the length of the file are dictated. The
format is flexible, which means I can dedicate a lot of
the space to one melody, or I can have more, smaller
melodies. Melody strings can also be repeated, attached
together, etc... I have read that the file can be quite
large but have personally experienced problems after it
gets larger than 68 bytes (really 64, minus header).
I have
included here a number of my schemes I like. However, if
you have any ideas, or want me to program you a custom
SoundScape, see below.

SoundScapes
Available...
With my recent
aqcuisition of a Datalink 150S Expedition
model watch I have had to tweek the
soundscheme I always usually keep in my
watch. I had my own personal verion of
the Mobile Ring, which accentuated the
lower tones. This sounded fantastic on
the Model 150 watch, but due to its
smaller size the 150S is not quite as
loud with the lower tones. I have
therefore created a version which
accentuates the tones the 150S likes. I
have included both of these SoundScapes
below for anyone who is interested.

My personally
tweeked version of my Mobile
Phone (Ringing) SoundScape (see
beow). This accentuates the lower tones
the 150 is capable of.

My personally
tweeked version of my Mobile
Phone (Ringing) SoundScape (see
beow). This accentuates the middle tones
the 150S model prefers to use..

An Executive
SoundScape. Very Functional, yet reserved.
Short Alarms and Appointments suitable
for the office environment. A fully
featured scheme.
|
|
 |
A very 'alarming'
alarm and appointment sounds. This
features a short warbling sound followed
by three staccato beeps. Short and
attention getting. A fully featured
scheme.
|
|
 |
For the rugged
outdoorsman. This SoundScape has an
attractive 'bugle' sorta sound to the
alarms and appointments. A fully featured
scheme.
|
|
 |
Pretty obvious what
I tried here. This is a snippet from the
sheet music, hashed over to the watches
note scheme. A good sound, just remember
the watch has limitations! A fully
featured scheme.

| Suzanne
Vega's Tom's Diner (Reprise) |
My first and best.
I warn you though the Appointment and
Alarm are a large section of the song,
but the rest had to be a simple single
beep. If you like Suzanne Vega (as I do)
you'll LOVE this one.
I believe this one breaks my
own publicised rules for SoundScape
length. You may have to redownload your
WristApp at the same time to use this one.

 |
The beginning of
the main Star Wars theme, you know, when
the movie first begins. A full featured
SoundScape that Star Wars fans cannot be
without.
|
|
 |
In the spirit of a
good Swiss Army Knive (i.e. Victorinox)
this SoundScape is so functional that
when the Alarm goes off it beeps out SOS
in Morse code! A fully featured scheme.

 |
Very James Bond.
When you are due to be at an appointment
your watch will ring you! Ring is very
reminiscent of a mobile phone. A fully
featured scheme with a very good sound. (I
usually have this 'Scape in my watch)

This was an
experimentation, but I liked it so much I
saved it. I was trying to get that nice
droid feel. That high technology computer
talk, that "Im trying to tell
you something in my own way". Its a
fully featured SoundScape with an
attractive, non-melodic sound.

|
 |
After downloading
all those SoundScapes, youll want
our Low Power SoundScape to limp to the
Jeweler for a new battery! A fully
featured scheme that was built both for
low power consumption, but also for
office use. Its a little embarrassing
when the intro to Star Wars starts up in
a meeting!

|
 |
The clasic Für
Elise. To make the tune slow enough I had
to fudge a few of the longer notes but
the overall sound is quite good. A fully
featured SoundScape which I feel only the
criminally insane will enjoy.

|
 |
This is a simple
SoundScape, not intended for download to
the watch. It goes through the tones the
watch is capable of. This is for those of
you who want me to program you a
SoundScape. For more information on
getting a custom SoundScape programmed
see below.
