After I placed my key in the root directory of C:, I get a "Input Past End of File" error.

This error is caused by some email programs. When it reads the .key file, which contains your registration details, it enters only linefeed characters where return characters should be present. To overcome this error, simply open the .key file in Windows Notepad (or another text editor) and enter your registered name on the first line, press <Enter> (Return), enter your registration number on the second line, and press <Enter> again.

Even if the file looks okay when you open it, please carry out the procedure above. The linefeed character causes the line to break, but it is not the same. The program sees the text as one line (even though it is displayed on more than one).
