Autorun Action Menu has now been archived, and as such no more updates will occur. Please click here for more information. Autorun Action Menu is easy to use software to enable CDs to take advantage of the CD-ROM Autorun/ Autoplay feature of MS Windows. The software was specifically designed for users with CDR drives (CD Recorders) to incorporate Autostart facilities on a CD. Autorun Action Menu is a small, decorative CD-ROM Autoplay menu consisting of 5 buttons, each of which have associated with them bitmaps (of defined size) and commands. All actions (i.e. slide in, slide out, button click, button focus) are associated with sounds, which can be easily replaced by the users if desired. Each button can be set to carry out a command, possible commands are:
The program, when started, cleverly slides in at the upper right of the screen, pausing briefly to do an initial load of all images. The program will remain above other windows until exited. When exited, either normally or when set to after clicking a button, the program slides off screen again. The program attractively displays title maps, which are sourced from easily editable bitmap files. It can load a background image, if the user finds it appropriate. The colour of the Button Text and program Background are also fully settable. The menu file specifies all the user settings, and it can be easily edited through the menu programmer, which is supplied in the package. The program now enters a "Demo" mode when left undisturbed for around 20 seconds. The Demo cycles between three states. Part 1: The program randomly selects buttons, turning the end-caps green (not red as when selected normally) and displays the buttons' title maps. Part 2: The program flashes the Title Map a number of times. Part 3: The "Explore CD" Map is flashed a few times. A screenshot of the software complete with a background image, as downloaded, is shown below. Please note that the "Main Screen" Section is a bitmap. Most people would not normally put text in their image, and I have only done so to assist Users in setting up the program.
The Small rectangular Button to the upper left shows red on program load up, flashing Yellow after that. When clicked it will open the CD-ROM with Explorer ("Browse CD"), and the directory it opens the CD in can be set through the menu creator. The vertical button on the left is the exit button, which flashes its end-caps red on mouse over, turning them green on mouse down (click). An example of the button states for the main button array are shown below, Green is load-up and Demo, Red is mouse over, Green-Down is mouse down and Cream is of course default idle.
For ease of Use the Program comes with its own menu creator. This allows you to setup the software quickly and simply. You can set all the variables such as Button Text, Color and Commands, Background Color, etc. The menu creator is shown below, with the supplied menu opened up ready for editing. PLEASE NOTE: the program is a 32-bit application, and as such will not run on anything previous to Windows 95.
Sample bitmaps are 16-color bitmaps to minimize the size of the download.
